Morcha hotel drive

Darjeeling, Aug. 31: The Gorkha Janmutki Morcha has decided to “campaign” from tomorrow in restaurants, bars, hotels and cyber cafés to discourage minors from drinking and booking hotel rooms on their own.

The decision was taken following the murder of 18-year- old Nima Tamang allegedly by a 16-year-old here on Thursday. Narayan Pradhan, the secretary of the Morcha’s town committee, said: “The town committee has decided to start a campaign in restaurants bars, hotels and also cyber cafes from tomorrow to ensure that minors do not hang out in these joints drinking.”

Pradhan also said they had decided to bring the cyber cafes under the scanner as minors were bunking classes to play video games in the cafes.
