Bullets for toys
Jorhat, Aug. 31: Police today recovered 19 live .303 rifle cartridges from an eight-year-old schoolboy at Xilikhajan under Titabar police station here. The boy told the police that two motorcycle-borne youths gave him the bullets yesterday when he was returning from school and told him that he could play with them.
Protest
Sivasagar: The district unit of AASU on Friday took out a procession here to protest against the recent violence and for the deportation of illegal migrants.
New boss
Dibrugarh: K.K. Nath, executive director (exploration & development), OIL, will take over as the resident chief executive of OIL’s field headquarters at Duliajan from Saturday.
Arrested
Jorhat: Four persons, Barisha Patir, Lakh-eswar Doley, Supply Patir and Moneswar Patir, were arrested from Majuli on Thursday night for allegedly murdering three members of a family after believing that they indulged in witchcraft.
