A dozen BIT-Sindri students took off to lend an able hand to an eye camp at Deoghar on Friday.
The eye camp at the renowned Rikhiapeeth Ashram of Yoga, Deoghar, will be jointly held with Rotary Club of Sindri from September 1 to 7.
The students accompanied by Ashok Sharma, Rotary Club (Sindri) president, as well as six other Rotarians, will take part in the venture that promises to be a mega affair, catering to around 28 villages.
BITians will assist ophthalmologists and organisers in registration, maintaining of data, keeping tabs on patients and whatever legwork that is necessary to shift those who need surgery to Giridih.
“Though BIT-Sindri students under the Rotaract Club banner host an annual medical camp since the last four decades, this is for the first time that they’re taking part at a camp outside,” said Sharma.
The BIT team comprises five third-year and seven second-year students, including third-year electrical engineering student Piyush Ranjan, Rotaract Club president.
Piyush apart, third-year students are Amritesh Kumar, Ashish Pandey, Subhash Saurabh and Kalisharan. Second-year students were Aditya Raj, Sachin Subhankar, Sharad Kumar, Abhishek Mishra, Pranav Kumar, Shashanki Kumar and Saurabh Kumar.
