Super cop

For the lover boy who breaks into a jig at the drop of a hat, it’s time for some kickass action and loads of attitude. “Enough of naacha-gaana. In Challenge2 (directed by Raja Chanda), I am a serious cop who talks less and means business. It will be a completely different me,” Dev tells t2.

“To play Abhiraj Roy, I had to pull off a brooding, angry young man look all through the film and believe you me, it was damn difficult!” admits the Tolly hero, who romances Koel Mallick in Friday release Paglu2. “This is the first time that I have two back-to-back films — Paglu2 and Challenge2 which will release during the Pujas.”

Won’t his fans, who follow every move and shake of his, be disappointed if Mr Twinkle Toes becomes a tough guy? “No, I mean there are song sequences in Challenge2 too but here Abhiraj has a lot of attitude, so it’s not the usual dance routine.... I am very charged up about this project. I have worked really hard for the action scenes. Shrikantda (Mohta of Shree Venkatesh Films) has spent so much money on the action scenes, it’s unbelievable!” he adds.

And what about his chemistry with Puja Bose? “I think we are looking good together, you know. I am happy because after a long time, I have got a new heroine (laughs)! For the past four years, I have been paired with only three-four actresses. I have a feeling that the audience will like us.... Puja is very bubbly, chirpy. She’s looking very good in the songs,” adds Dev.
