School kid molest in bus

Durgapur, Aug. 30: An 11-year-old girl in Asansol was allegedly molested on her way to school by a conductor inside a bus with only 6 passengers in it.

The Class VI girl had boarded the minibus at 7 this morning at Dolly Lodge for her school near Asansol court, 1.5km away.

“Only six passengers were there in the bus when the girl got on it. The conductor, Asgar Ali, asked the girl to buy a ticket and sat beside her. He then allegedly molested her. On shouting, the conductor pulled the girl by her hands and forced her to get down near Court More. The bus being empty, the other passengers may not have understood why the girl shouted,” an officer at Hirapur police station said.

Ali has been arrested following a complaint by the girl’s father.

The girl, who regularly takes a minibus to her school, walked the remaining 500 metres to the school and broke down in tears before her classmates, the officer said. Her father was then informed by the school authorities.

The girl’s neighbours stopped the minibus while it was returning and thrashed the conductor before handing him over to the police. The bus was also seized.

“We have arrested Asgar on molestation charges. We have started a probe,” said Subrata Ganguly, the additional deputy commissioner of police (west).

The teacher in charge of Rammohun College in Hooghly's Khanakul, along with 50 teaching and non-teaching employees, were today gheraoed by around 200 students belonging to the Trinamul Congress Chhatra Parishad who accused him of slapping a boy.
