Guwahati, Aug. 19: The organising committee for the proposed 1st Dorjee Khandu state-level open badminton championship has revised the prize-money for the tournament, scheduled to be held in Itanagar in Arunachal Pradesh from tomorrow.
The increase in prize-money, decided in a meeting of the organising committee chaired by its chief patron and the former chief minister’s son Pema Khandu, who is the tourism and PWD minister of Arunachal Pradesh, ranges between double to triple of the original amount.
The winners in the men and women’s singles events will now receive Rs 30,000 per head instead of Rs 10,000.
The doubles winners will be richer by Rs 30,000 each pair instead of Rs 12,000.
The total prize-money will amount to approximately Rs 5 lakh.
