Vidyut Jamwal

In an old bungalow off Napean Sea Road in Mumbai, in between shots on the sets of Manish Malhotra’s short film that was screened at Delhi Couture Week, was introduced to the charming Vidyut Jamwal. Had to tell him about his major fan base in Team t2 and giggled as he turned a cute shade of coral! “I have a Calcutta connection, having stayed some years at Fort William,” he said between blushing. Vidyut’s picture was promptly updated on BBM and the “oh-so-jealous” messages flooded in. Mission accomplished!

Wisdom gained: The badman of Force is hotter in person, if that’s even possible!

Kareena Kapoor

I’ve been a big Bebo fan. Right from her Poo days in K3G (fine, judge me). Having met her a few times, including for a Vogue India cover shoot and once with Saif at Manish Malhotra’s post-Lakme Fashion Week party, I’m not so star-struck (about her, that is!). That’s why I had the guts to show her my brother’s texts post-Kallol Datta’s finale at LFW. I handed her the phone, she scrolled down the messages that ranged from “Dude, if she held my hand like that I would have passed out” to “Tell Kareena she’s hot”. She read them, smiled sweetly and said “Thanks!” I have to be the world’s best sister.

Wisdom gained: She’s a star. And like every girl, she likes the compliments coming!

Sonam Kapoor

Met her at Anamika Khanna’s off-site couture show in Delhi’s Evoluzione. She walked in wearing a blush pink crushed sari draped over black pants and looked every bit the style icon she is. Hellos exchanged, she just had one thing to say: “Babe, where’s Anamika?” And then she disappeared.

Wisdom gained: This girl has her priorities straight. Post-show is for hugging bestie Anamika, not giving sound bytes!

Javed Akhtar & Shabana Azmi

They sat right next to me at Anamika’s show. Nothing usually comes between me and my glass of bubbly but this time, with Javed (saab) and me separated just with a plate of hors d’oeuvres, I was increasingly stressed each time I sipped my flute of champagne. Was he judging me? I met them post-show and told them it was a stressful show to watch, he just patted my shoulder. So sweet.

Wisdom gained: Javed Akhtar is NOT into fashion but he’s still very patient to wait and watch! Shabana is not as intimidating in person as she is on news shows.

Katrina Kaif

Okay technically, I didn’t meet her. But I did see her. Twice. Once during rehearsal when she wore the skinniest pair of black jeans I have seen in my life with a champagne choli she would stop the show (Manish Malhotra at Delhi Couture Week) in. Once during the real show. The first time I wasn’t allowed to take pictures (there was a don’t-mess-with-me-looking manager who warned everyone to keep their phones and cameras away) and the second time, I was so taken in with her gorgeousness I forgot. In love with her abs. Just the right amount of flesh, just the right amount of flat, she IS fab!

Wisdom gained: Not only is she most stunning, she’s the sexiest woman. Ever. Gotta start reading Pooja Makhija’s Eat. Delete.

Farah Ali Khan

I had seen pictures of the ‘celebrity’ jewellery designer at Parmeshwar Godrej’s party, clicking herself away with talk show queen Oprah Winfrey. At Manav Gangwani’s pre-show party in Blue Bar, I saw her in action. So the beautiful queen of Bhutan Jetsun Pema walked into the party and Farah stuck to her for dear life. Of course, many pictures were clicked and tweeted.

Wisdom gained: The queen of Bhutan has a lot of patience!

Raveena Tandon

She’s so beautiful. The kind you want to keep staring at. Manish Malhotra introduced me to her at Manav Gangwani’s party. Turns out she’s the boss’s “buddy”, so I quickly moved on!

Wisdom gained: She’s like a beautiful girl-next-door. Only that she’s really beautiful, just not next-door!

Sridevi

Met her for an interview (watch this space for more) in her Taj club suite, she without any make-up, before Sabyasachi’s finale show at Delhi. Next day bumped into her at the airport. “Shradha, where’s your kajal?” Sridevi had me stumped! And I have decided to go change my going-home-no-make-up look to going-home-no-make-up-but-still-some-kajal look.

Wisdom gained: Stars are not always self-obsessed. And they can make you feel good.
