5 Indian nominees for ICC awards

Calcutta: Virat Kohli, the leading run-scorer in ODIs this year, on Monday, was nominated in two different categories for the International Cricket Council (ICC)’s awards, which will be held in Colombo.

Virat was nominated for the Cricketer of the Year award as well as for the ODI Cricketer of the Year award.

Apart from Virat, India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni and opener Gautam Gambhir have also been nominated for the ODI Cricketer of the Year award. However, India don’t have a single nomination in the Test Cricketer of the Year award.

Moving to other awards, Sachin Tendulkar has once again been nominated for the People’s Choice award. He had won the award in 2010.

Those nominated for the People's Choice award also include Sri Lanka's Kumar Sangakkara, South Africans Vernon Philander and Jacques Kallis and England's James Anderson.

For the third time, fans will have the opportunity to decide the winner, this time by accessing an application on the ICC’s official Facebook page: www.facebook.com / cricketicc.
