NEDFi contest
Aug. 12: The North Eastern Development Finance Corporation Ltd organised the NEDFi Best Business Idea contest in Guwahati recently. Entries included manufacture of light portable chairs/stools and production of high-value charcoal from sugarcane trash, among others.
DoNER scheme
The DoNER ministry is implementing a skill-building scheme to make the youths, especially from the rural areas, of the Northeast ready for the job market. As of now, 124 projects under the scheme have been completed — 57 in Arunachal, 49 in Nagaland, 35 in Assam and 20 in Manipur.

Sohum Shoppe Limited on Saturday launched Home@Sohum — a furnishing and furniture store in Guwahati. To start with, 20 products in 10 different categories are on display. The store offers in-shop interior decorators along with 3D demos, along with furniture and furnishing items including imported products.
Workshop
Poddar Car World Private Limited launched a Maruti Suzuki dealership at Gorchuk on Thursday. The showroom-cum-workshop offers 24-hour body shop service — a first of its kind in the entire country.
