Gangrape in moving Delhi car

New Delhi, Aug. 10: A 19-year-old call centre employee was gangraped in a car that criss-crossed Delhi for four hours late last night.

The girl said in her complaint that she was raped by an acquaintance and his seven friends before being dumped on the Delhi-Agra national highway at Faridabad in the wee hours today.

Police rescued her after she called up the emergency line. She was taken to hospital where tests confirmed rape. “Based on the complaint, a case has been registered against eight persons. Five persons have been named in the FIR while three are unidentified,” said a senior police officer.

The police have picked up some youths in the area. They are being questioned for leads on the accused.

The girl told the police her acquaintance, Inderjeet, called her yesterday afternoon and asked her to reach Ballabhgarh area in Faridabad at 8pm. She did so, without sniffing anything amiss.

Eight youths, including Inderjeet, then accosted her and dragged her into a Santro.

“The victim told us that Inderjeet and his friends Luca, Santu, Naveen and Raju sat in the car and took turns to rape her. The other three accused got into a Nano and followed the car,” said a police officer.

The youths first raped her in the car and then in some fields in Jhadrontla village, before dumping her near the highway, the girl said.

“Inderjeet had called the victim to Ballabgarh saying he had a fight with his girlfriend and wanted her help to patch up with her,” the officer added.

The police said the victim, a resident of south Delhi, worked with a Faridabad call centre.
