The West Bengal Board of Secondary Education will publish Madhyamik test papers from 2013.
The test paper will contain questions of previous years’ Madhyamik and of the selection tests for Madhyamik examinees at various schools, unlike the other test papers that also carry suggestions for the Class X exam.
“Since the board conducts Madhyamik, it cannot give suggestions or sample questions in its test paper,” said Kalyanmoy Ganguly, the newly-appointed administrator of the board.
Madhyamik and HS test papers are now published by two organisations — All Bengal Teachers Association (ABTA) and State Teachers and Employees Association (STEA).
Both are compilations of questions as well as suggestions for the two exams.
An ABTA member said the organisation had been publishing test papers since the 1930s.
“We are not aware about the board’s decision to start publishing test papers. The ABTA test paper is popular among students,” said Utpal Roy, the general secretary of the organisation.
A senior official of the board said the test paper would be ready by the first week of December and students would be able to buy it from mid-December.
The board will start collecting questions of the selection tests held at schools in November. “All reputable schools will be asked to send questions of their selection tests.”
The board decided to publish test papers at a recent meeting of senior officials. The government has given its clearance and asked the board to go ahead with the project.
