Industry meet next week
New Delhi, Aug. 10: The government has called a meeting with industry leaders next week to discuss the slowdown in production and discuss steps to reverse the trend. “Commerce minister Anand Sharma will first meet industry associations such as Ficci and the CII along with Fieo. He has also called a meeting of the government-industry task force to review the situation and suggest measures,” an official statement said.
Maruti unit
New Delhi, Aug. 10: Maruti Suzuki India will take a decision on Monday on reopening its violence-hit Manesar plant where a lockout had been declared on July 21, chief operating officer (administration) S.Y. Siddiqui said.
Coal blocks
New Delhi, Aug. 10: To fast-track the development of captive coal blocks, the Centre has finalised a policy to deduct bank guarantees of mine holders if they do not start production from allotted mines within the stipulated time.
Jute price
Calcutta, Aug. 10: The jute commissioner’s office has turned down the industry’s demand to increase bag prices. It said the present price of Rs 55,979 per tonne was remunerative as salary and wage costs had reduced by Rs 1,596 per tonne.
NMDC buy
New Delhi, Aug. 10: NMDC’s board is expected to give its approval next week to acquire a 26 per cent stake in Brazilian iron ore firm Amplus for around $10-15 million.

Calcutta, Aug. 10: Keventer Group has exported 1,000 tonnes of sesame seeds to Dipasa, the largest end user and importer of sesame in Mexico.
