Kissen leaves Jhalak podium with long-lasting impression
- Bhojpuri actor eliminated out of reality show, fans and followers will get to witness his moves on Saturday

Actor Ravi Kissen, whose 14-year-old daughter Reeva thought he had two left feet, has proved his mettle in Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa among 16 contestants and surviving nine out of 13 episodes.

Kissen, who will be eliminated from the reality show on Colors this Saturday, recalled how Reeva kept him going in the dance programme. “Before the show could begin, my daughter told me that I couldn’t dance. But she was amazed to see me dancing on the stage and later told me that I danced well. Nothing could be more appreciative,” Ravi said.

The Bhojpuri star told The Telegraph that the experience in Jhalak would stay with him forever because “it was a golden journey throughout”.

“I am not disappointed after the elimination. I performed in nine episodes despite not being a professional dancer. It is a big achievement for me. Moreover, all the judges on the show appreciated my performances and praised me for the pain I took to learn some difficult moves,” Kissen said over the phone from Mumbai.

During the journey in the show, Kissen performed various steps, including Tango, Salsa and desi. The actor had also dressed as a woman to perform on the number Honthon mein aisi baat main dabaake chali aayi from the film Jewel Thief to imitate actress Vyjayanthimala.

“It was a very exciting journey in my life. I not only learnt the dance styles but also met good people. The other participants were very supportive and I shared some nice moments with them. Jhalak was an opportunity to prove myself that I can dance well.”

Before Kissen, Kaun Banega Crorepati winner Sushil Kumar, the native of Motihari, was eliminated in the last episode. After his elimination, the people of the state were counting on the Bihar actor.

The show grabbed eyeballs because of its concept and star judges — director Karan Johar, Mrs dazzling smile Madhuri Dixit Nene, and eminent choreographer Remo D’Souza.

Asked about the comments the judges bestowed on him after he was eliminated, Kissen said: “Madhuri gave me the best comment. She said I (Kissen) am a Bhojpuri superstar and will always remain a superstar. It was indeed touching. Karan said he would miss me a lot in the show because the desi jhatkas and matkas will be missing now. Remo appreciated my dance and effort to learn new steps.”

“It was a deeply emotional moment for me when my name was announced when I was eliminated. I will miss the judges and the other participants. They were like a family.”

The actor did not forget to mention his choreographer in the show Kunjan. “She was my biggest support. She not only taught me quality dancing but also made me realise the importance of dance. I will never forget those days when she had to struggle to teach Salsa and Tango,” Ravi said.
