Youths caught

Nagaon, Aug. 7: Dima Hasao police and Assam Rifles caught three Khelma youths from an interior village under Umrangsu police station this morning and recovered two arms from them along with documents of a newly-floated militant outfit. According to an Assam Rifles source, the group is called All Tribal Liberation Army.

Shops gutted

Nagaon: Twenty-five shops were gutted in a market at Dhing town on Tuesday morning. Sources said a short circuit had caused the fire and property worth Rs 2 crore was damaged.

Inauguration

Jorhat: Chief minister Tarun Gogoi will inaugurate the newly installed magnetic resonance imaging machine at Jorhat Medical College and Hospital on Wednesday. He will provide scholarships to meritorious students at N.N. Saiki College at Titabar and also inaugurate a resthouse of the Thengal Kachari Autonomous Council.

Cadres held

Nalbari: Mushalpur police and the army, in a joint operation, arrested two Ulfa cadres of the pro-talks faction from Mushalpur in Baksa district.
