hief minister Nitish Kumar recently said director-general of police Abhayanand told him that FIR does not always mean first information report. “It could be forced information report,” Nitish said, stressing that many FIRs did not stand the scrutiny of the court and often FIRs were lodged to mislead investigation. Pintu was not surprised. “Nepal is my sasural (in-laws place),” he said. “Pintu” hails from Sitamarhi district, close to Indo-Nepal border. “Thousands of marriages in Sitamarhi is inter-country. Pintu’s marriage is one among them,” said a BJP leader. Politicians recalled that former LJP MLA Nagina Devi, also from Sitamarrhi, had to face a legal case because she hailed from Nepal and got married to an Indian family. After she was elected, her rival claimed that Nagina never applied for an Indian citizenship. But she won the case in the apex court. “Luckily, ‘Pintu’ will not have to face the problem Nagina faced,” added the BJP leader, stressing that politics intermingled with marriages between families in Sitamarhi and Nepal.
