NCC ‘torture’

Bulandshahar, July 31 (PTI): A cadet was blinded after two trainers allegedly thrashed him with a belt at an NCC camp here last night.

Rahul, a 2nd year BA student, had an altercation with the trainers before a drill event being organised on a college ground. He is undergoing treatment in a hospital.

Pak tunnel

Jammu (PTI): India has lodged a formal protest with Pakistan over the detection of a cross-border tunnel along the border in Samba sector. BSF officials handed over the protest note with pictorial evidence to their Pakistan Rangers counterparts at a flag meeting in R.S. Pura sector.

Valley death

Srinagar: A south Kashmir town was on the boil on Tuesday after local people alleged a 22-year-old youth had been beaten to death by security forces. Police, however, said today that Aaqib Ahmad Bhat, a water tanker driver, had died in an accident last night at Shopian town.

Killer bull

Bhopal (PTI): A bull gored a 65-year-old man to death last week after he poured hot water on it in Deori town. The bull followed Bhoop Narain Prajapati while he was being rushed to hospital and even appeared at the crematorium during his funeral, police said.
