New Delhi, July 30: The northern grid’s failure today spawned the mother of conspiracy theories from Team Anna, which saw it as a government ploy to prevent people coming to the Jantar Mantar protest.
“The government can cut the grid, cut the electricity, cut the Metro, bus and auto services but people will join Anna Hazare’s movement,” Kumar Vishwas, a poet who conducts proceedings at all Team Anna agitations, told the crowd of nearly 4,000.
“Since Anna sat on his fast (yesterday), new developments have been taking place in Delhi. Today, the grid failed. Metro train services were disrupted.”
Delhi was left without power for nearly eight hours, which affected transport and water supply — including the tanker service at Jantar Mantar, which brought a fresh round of accusations from Vishwas.
The group today softened on yoga practitioner Ramdev, whom it had lambasted yesterday for sharing a dais with Narendra Modi and praising him. Vishwas and Kiran Bedi said Ramdev was free to meet whoever he wanted to.
