16-year-old raped
A 16-year-old girl from Baidyabati was allegedly raped by her friend’s father in a vacant house in Serampore on Saturday night. Police said Barun Adhikari, a clerk at Serampore court, allegedly asked the Class VI student to accompany him for a stroll on Saturday evening. He allegedly took her to an empty house and raped her before dropping her near Seoraphuli GT Road. The girl narrated the incident to her parents who lodged a complaint with Serampore police station. Adhikari was arrested from his house on Sunday.
Snack shop arrest: Parameshwar Parekh, the manager of a Bhikharam Chandmal store next to Salt Lake City Centre, was arrested on Sunday after a resident of Salt Lake CK 118 alleged that he had found something that resembled animal skin in a packet of potato chips bought from the shop. The complainant, Dhananjoy Mondal, also alleged that his family members had fallen ill after eating the chips.
Traffic hit: Traffic was disrupted along VIP Road on Sunday after a trailer hit a lamp post near Dum Dum Park around 1.30pm, blocking the road. Cops took around two hours to remove the vehicle.
Boy run over: A 12-year-old boy from Howrah was run over by a truck on the Serampore-Tarakeswar road on Sunday morning. |
