Monsoon tee-off

The Tolly Monsoon CUp in association with the Telegraph at Tollygunge club was made colourful by young guns and passionate vets. t2 putted about

the ladies

Helen Feuillat, who took to the sport two years ago, stood out in her on-trend red cropped pants. “I love the challenges and the frustrations of the game,” she said.

Siddhi Kapur, 14, has been playing the game for the last four years. Don’t be fooled by her size, she can keep her focus even after a ‘surprise’ from a wriggly green snake. “My dad Vicky Kapur inspired me to take up the game,” smiled the self-confessed “chatterbox” who finds it a little hard to be “all serious during the game”.

Chandni Sehgal, 24, picked a wacky pair of bright pink shorts on play day. “I prefer a more flamboyant style while playing,” said the youngster who tees off as early as 5am on practice days.

Isha Kapoor, 14, loves the game for the concentration it requires. “I want to turn pro someday,” she said.

we are family!

Here is a tale of role reversal where father Arvind Saraogi was inspired to hit the greens after daughter Mamata, 13, started playing well. “I love the fact that you compete against yourself in golf,” she said. The duo later won the best nett prize for day two. Brothers Anmol (13) and Anshul Mahajan (10) (picture above) like playing all kinds of sport and felt like taking up the game after watching their father and grandfather play. “I quite like playing in the monsoon. It’s almost as fun as football,” said Anmol.

from 75 to 7!

You’re never too old to rock ’n’ roll. Or to chip ’n’ putt. Colonel P. Andrews, 75, and S.N. Agarwal, 64, prefer playing golf in the winters. But the rains aren’t half bad either, they say. What motivates the seniors to keep playing? “Passion for the game,” smiled Andrews.

Rakshik Basu, 7, (left) and Aroush Tagore, 8, were the tiniest tots to form a team. Rakshik was inspired by elder brother Abhikanks (who won second place in the Tolly Monsoon Cup). Aroush divides his time between studies, chess as well as golf!
