The Bengal, an NGO with eminent citizens as members, joined hands with The Telegraph for its Safe City project. “We are extending our support to Safe City, a project started by The Telegraph to keep the city safe for women,” said Sundeep Bhutoria of The Bengal after a meeting at Taj Bengal last week.

Mansoor Ali, who recently received a Certificate of Honour from President Pratibha Patil for his contribution in promoting Persian language and literature, was feted on the occasion.

Percussionist Bickram Ghosh was inducted into The Bengal at the meeting.

Keeping with the theme of traditional Bengal, cha, jhaalmuri, shingara, fish chop and telebhaja were served at the meeting.
