Dibrugarh judokas on Shillong exposure tour

Jorhat, July 22: A team of 14 judokas from Dibrugarh will leave for Shillong tomorrow on an exposure tour.

The judokas, belonging to District Judo Association, Sports Authority of India Akhara Centre in Dibrugarh and Come and Play Scheme of Dibrugarh will be trained in advanced techniques of the sport in Guwahati and Shillong.

Moreover, they will get the opportunity to visit some select places of tourist interest during the tour of Meghalaya.

Judo in Assam is indebted to Meghalaya as the sport’s pioneer in the state Banee Brata Das of Guwahati trained in Meghalaya.

The tour is jointly sponsored by Sonowal Kachari Autonomous Council, Dibrugarh, Sports Authority of India, Guwahati and Shillong and the guardian of the judokas.

The touring players include Atanu Hazarika, Bedanta Hazarika, Surajit Phukan, Susanta Deka, Rituraj Bordoloi, Anupam Dutta, Sanjoy Yadav, Nabajyoti Baruah, Lipika Hazarika, Tilutoma Hazarika, Pritirekha Sonowal, Bonani Sonowal, Mili Barman and Rubi Mech.
