Sharma left out; Wayne impresses

Calcutta: While Rahul Sharma didn’t make the XI in India’s opening one-dayer against Sri Lanka in Hambantota, Wayne Parnell had a successful outing for South Africa A, against Zimbabwe A, in the final of the triangular series at Harare Sports Club, on Saturday.

Sharma and Parnell had tested positive for drugs and both the Boards are waiting for the details. A spokesman for Cricket South Africa told The Telegraph: “We haven’t been informed anything… All we know is through websites and media reports. We cannot react until such time we are informed officially.”

Meanwhile, there is no change in the BCCI’s position.

They have sought a detailed report from the Mumbai police authorities.

“I don’t know why everyone is in a mood to execute Rahul Sharma without even going into the details,” BCCI president N. Srinivasan had said.

“The BCCI will first procure each and every bit of relevant information before deciding on the course of action.”
