Student crushes 1

Mumbai, July 18 (PTI): A 74-year-old person was killed and two constables injured after being hit by a speeding car driven by a college student in south Mumbai’s Marine Drive today.

Yash Bora was booked for rash driving and his car seized. He will be put under a medical test to ascertain if he was drunk at the time of the incident.

IPL notice

Madurai (PTI): Madras High Court on Wednesday issued notices to Indian cricket board chief N. Srinivasan, Amitabh Bachchan, Salman Khan and Kareena Kapoor on a petition alleging “uncensored and indecent” programmes during the IPL-V inaugural show in Chennai.

J&K grenade

Srinagar: Suspected militants on Wednesday fired a rifle grenade at the civil secretariat, the seat of the Jammu and Kashmir government. The grenade, however, did not explode. No outfit has claimed responsibility so far.

CPM leader

Kozhikode (PTI): A state- committee member of the Kerala CPM was arrested on Wednesday in connection with the murder of rebel leader T.P. Chandrasekaran. A special investigation team grilled K.K. Ragesh for over an hour before arresting him. Ragesh was later released on bail.
