“Roy and another supplier had received threat letters two weeks ago, asking them to wrap up their businesses,” said an officer of airport police station.

Two youths had chased Prasenjit on a motorcycle and shot him at Kali Park on Rajarhat Road around 6.10am. The pillion-rider fired at least five bullets. Three missed Prasenjit but his bike skidded off the road.
The two caught up with him and the pillion rider shot him in the head. The killer then got off the bike and fired another bullet into his neck.
A probe revealed that the murder was the fallout of business rivalry. “He had started the business of supplying building materials six months ago, against the advice of family members,” said the police.
who had tried to dissuade him by citing instances of murders or attempted killings in the area triggered by disputes related to the realty business,” said an officer.
