Bandh called off
Dhubri, July 16: A 100-hour Dhubri district bandh called by All Koch Rajbangshi Students Union (Akrsu) from July 18 has been called off following assurance from police and civil administration that the police would exercise maximum precaution and take Akrsu into confidence before arresting anyone from Koch Rajbangshi community.
Remanded
Nalbari: Dwibesh Ray Medhi, assistant project officer (technical branch) of the Nalbari DRDA, who was arrested on Sunday for his involvement in 2008-2009 tubewell scam here, was remanded in judicial custody on Monday.
Demand
B>n Nalbari: Local residents of Dhulabari village in Kamrup district on Monday sent a memorandum to the SP of Kamrup demanding suspension of Rangia police station OC Munin Choudhury for allegedly assaulting a pregnant woman, Namita Begum, on Sunday.
Flood damage
Dhubri: The Brahmaputra flowing above the danger level of 28.62 mts in Dhubri inundated more than 130 villages in the district. The total damages caused here is worth Rs 120 crore, official source said.
