Wife sets man ablaze
A woman was arrested on Monday for allegedly setting her husband ablaze on Lenin Sarani late on Sunday. Police sources said Shabnam Khatoon, a 24-year-old bar singer, had allegedly set her husband Mohammad Salauddin on fire after he stepped out of a bar in a drunken state. Salauddin was admitted to hospital with severe burns.
Woman dead
Homemaker Minati Sharma, 28, succumbed to burns on Monday, a day after she was allegedly set ablaze by her in-laws at their APC Road house in Burtolla. Police arrested Satyendra, Minati’s brother-in-law (husband’s brother), for the murder.
Rape arrest
Two youths and a woman were arrested on Monday after a 16-year-old girl from Sukantanagar in Salt Lake complained that she had been raped and sold off to a brothel by the trio.
Man held
Anup Kumar Adak, 28, a sepoy with the army, was arrested on Monday from the Down Jamalpur Express for allegedly carrying two improvised pistols. |
