Cop shoots at himself
A sub-inspector posted at East Jadavpur police station shot at himself with his colleague’s service revolver on Thursday. Rabindranath Sarkar, 57, was rushed to hospital with head and face injuries.
Sarkar lives with his family at the Nowdapara police quarters near the Dunlop crossing in North 24-Parganas. A senior officer in Lalbazar said Sarkar, who had worked in the detective and traffic departments for 11 years, had applied for a transfer. The request is pending.

Shot dead: Ishwar Shaw, a 30-year-old sharebroker, was shot dead by three youths at the Bauria jetty ghat in Howrah on Thursday. Police said the youths had come on a motorcycle. |
