Plea for funds

Dibrugarh University has requested Dispur to allot funds to construct six more girls’ hostels in view of growing number of female candidates at the university.

New campus

Dispur has allotted 61 bighas of land at Patgaon on the outskirts of the city to Krishna Kanta Handique State Open University to set up its permanent campus.

New principal

Father Anthony Thekkel has been appointed the new principal of Don Bosco School, Panbazar, Guwahati. Fr Anthony is currently serving the school as rector. The new principal has served in different Salesian schools in the Northeast, including Don Bosco School, Tangla, Don Bosco School, Lawngtlai, Mizoram and Don Bosco School, Kokrajhar.

Workshop

S.B. Deorah College, Guwahati, in collaboration with Noonmati Sahitya Sabha, will organise a UGC-sponsored workshop on the present state of implementation of the Assam State Language Act: Problems an-d Solution on August 17 and 18 on the college premises.

Seminar

The political science department of Bengtol College in Chirang district organised a UGC-sponsored national seminar on Corruption and its Effects in Contemporary Society last week.
