New Delhi, June 27: External affairs minister S.M. Krishna today urged Rahul Gandhi to join the government to “help it solve the country’s problems”.
“We have always wanted Rahul Gandhi’s involvement in the government. The Prime Minister’s invitation is there (for him) to join the government but he himself seems not to be inclined at the moment,” Krishna said.
The minister’s comments came in response to a question on whether it would be the right time for Rahul to join the government in the impending cabinet reshuffle following Pranab Mukherjee’s resignation as finance minister.
Such a call to Rahul, though not the first, assumes significance because at 80, Krishna is the senior-most minister in Manmohan Singh cabinet.
“I am one of those who feel that it is necessary for Rahul Gandhi to come into the government and help it solve the problems that we face as a country,” the foreign minister added.
