Man found dead

Cuttack, June 26: A man was found dead under mysterious circumstances at a city lodge.

The 55-year-old man may have died of cardiac arrest because there were no visible injury marks. The autopsy is likely to be conducted tomorrow. Sources said a couple had checked in at Chandan Lodge on the Haripur-Dolamundai road around 3.30pm. The man had identified himself as Damodar Panda but no identity proof was asked by the lodge officials.

“An hour later, the woman came rushing and asked for water,” lodge manager Bijay Das said, adding that when he went inside the room, he found that the man lying naked on the bed and foaming at the mouth.

According to eye-witnesses, the couple had come to the lodge in a motorcycle in the afternoon. The motorcycle that has been recovered from near the lodge was found to have been registered in the name of Prabir Kumar Das of Deula Sahi area, police said.

On the other hand, the woman who had accompanied the deceased has been detained by the cops. The woman also in her 50s refused to comment on the matter.
