Rave party bail

Mumbai, June 26 (PTI): Fashion designer Rocky S and Angad Bedi, son of former cricketer Bishen Singh Bedi, today sought anticipatory bail in a case related to alleged drugs consumption in a rave party at a Juhu hotel last month.

arcotics court where the plea was filed yesterday gave protection from arrest to two persons who tested positive in a test. Forty-four of the 92 people picked up from the May 20 party have tested positive, police said.

Abu Salem

New Delhi (PTI): Gangster Abu Salem was on Tuesday granted bail in a 2002 extortion case. He will, however, still be in jail as he faces trial in seven other cases for which he was extradited from Portugal. The court also praised Salem’s conduct in jail.

Horse rider

Thiruvananthapuram (PTI): A 42-year-old man has been booked for riding his horse through city roads allegedly in an inebriated condition and torturing the animal. The ride created traffic problems and forced police intervention. The animal had appeared to be in an exhausted condition as it had been flogged by its owner, police said.

Card fine

New Delhi (PTI): The Royal Bank of Scotland has been directed by a consumer forum to pay a credit card holder Rs 5,000 as compensation for demanding payment even when he had cleared all his dues.

US chair

Washington (PTI): An Indian American organisation has contributed $3.24 million (over Rs17 crore) to establish a Hindu studies chair at University of South California’s School Of Religion. Los Angeles based Dharma Civilisation Foundation has funded the chair named after Swami Vivekananda. It will be the first chair of Hindu studies in the US.

Crash kills 13

Ashoknagar (PTI): Thirteen persons were killed and three injured when their jeep collided with a stone-laden truck in Madhya Pradesh on Monday. The victims, from Uttar Pradesh, were returning after visiting a temple.
