The district has got heavy rainfall since 11pm on Saturday. According to figures available with the flood control room at the district magistrate’s office, Dinhata subdivision recorded the heaviest rainfall in the district between 9pm on Saturday and 9am on Sunday and it was 69.4mm. Mathabhanga received 49.2mm of rainfall, Cooch Behar (Sadar) recorded 19mm, and Tufanganj received 18.6mm.
Four of the 20 wards in the Cooch Behar municipality were waterlogged throughout Sunday.
