Bangla national held with fake notes

Shillong, June 24: The BSF today apprehended man from Bangladesh carrying a fake currency along West Khasi Hills border.

According to a BSF statement, the BSF troops of border outpost Bagli in the West Khasi Hills of Meghalaya, arrested Dulal Miya, 35, from Lama Khata village under Tahirpur police station in Sunamganj district of Bangladesh near the border pillar while he was trying to infiltrate into India.

The BSF seized fake currency notes valued at Rs 15,000 and a cell phone with two Bangladeshi SIM cards.

In another incident yesterday, based on specific inputs, the BSF troops of border outpost Tuka in the East Khasi Hills seized 20 cattle heads worth Rs 4 lakh while the animals were being smuggled to Bangladesh.

Besides, the BSF troops of Meghalaya frontier also seized 10 boats, bottles of liquor, logs and other contraband items valued at Rs 15,10,000 during the past week.

The BSF said the apprehended persons and seized items had been handed over to the department concerned for further disposal and legal action according to the law of the land.
