Guwahati, June 21: The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) today said the Assam government had complied with its recommendation to pay compensation of Rs 5 lakh each to the next of kin of five men killed in an encounter at Dohikata Kadaldhowa forest in a joint operation by the army, Assam police and CRPF on June 20, 2009.
Boy found
Jorhat: Monjit Sharma, the first year engineering student of Jorhat Institute of Science and Techno-logy, who had been missing from his hostel since Tuesday evening, was found at Paltan Bazar in Guwahati yesterday. Police said the boy from Chabua in Dibrugarh was in a confused state of mind and had lost his wallet and cell phone.
No holiday
Jorhat: A holiday court will be in session on Saturday from 10am to dispose of 3,300 cases relating to motor vehicles and excise department cases.
