Imphal, June 21: South Eastern Youth Organisation beat Khongman Students Club 2-0 in todayís match of the ongoing third state men and women open hockey tournament, 2012 organised by Manipur Hockey at Khuman Lampak Hockey Stadium here. The South Eastern team didnít waste any time as Ksh. Sumesh Singh drove home the opening goal in the 3rd minute of the match. His teammate Ksh. Hemlet Singh consolidated South Easternís strangle hold with another field goal in the 11th minute.
Khongman Students Club tried to lift their game but their opponents refused to loosen their vice-like grip over the match. Eventually, South Eastern went on to grab three points. The South Eastern team had four penalty corners while Khongman had a lone corner, which they wasted.
In another match, Lizard Club were handed a 7-0 drubbing at the hands of Youth Club Lairikyengbam, Leikai.
Youth Club struck early as Ch. Umakanta Singh found the back of the net in the 13th minute and L. Shitaljoy Singh followed suit in the 19th minute to give Youth Club a 2-0 lead at the end of the first half.
Lizard Club tried to mount a counter-attack but their misdirected shot cost them dearly as their opponents took advantage of every mistake.
Ch. Umakanta scored a field goal in the 49th minute and then the landslide of goals started. M. Romen Singh scored twice in the 54th and 60th minute while Kh. Dhanajit Singh notched up another goal in 59th minute. Kh. Rinel Singh read the final rites as he flicked home a goal in 62nd minute to wrap up the game.
Football tourney: The Imphal East Football District Association will organise the First Division League, 2012, from July 25.
Squash camp: The Manipur Squash Racket Association will hold a month-long training course for boys and girls at the Officers' Club, Lamphelpat, for which applications will be received till June 30.
