Jharkhand will organise a special run from Albert Ekka Chowk to Birsa Munda Stadium and an event to honour sportspersons and coaches in the state capital to mark Olympic Day on Saturday.
Addressing newsmen on Thursday, Jharkhand Olympic Association (JOA) general secretary S.H. Hashmi said players in 12 disciplines would be felicitated during a State Olympic Award ceremony.
The Birsa Munda Lifetime Achievement Award will be given to Ranchi University volleyball coach Shekhar Bose, while archer Vinod Swansi has bagged the Jaipal Singh Award for best player (men).
Captain of the national hockey team Asunta Lakra will be presented with the Sidho Kanhu Award for best woman player, whereas state hockey coach S.K. Mohanty has been chosen for the Tana Bhagat Award for best coach.
IPS officer Amitabh Choudhary will be given the Vir Budhu Bhagat Award for individual promotion of sports.
Deputy chief minister Sudesh Mahto and JOA head R. K. Anand will grace the event.
