Shriyanka bags gold in shooting
Calcutta: Shriyanka Sadangi bagged the gold medal in the 10m Air Rifle junior women’s category of the International Junior Shooting championship in Suhl on Thursday with a total score of 500.9 after scoring 398 in the preliminary round. Tejaswini Muley, who was leading after the preliminary round with a score of 399 managed a final score of 100.8 and had to settle for the fourth place with a total score of 499.8.
HI booty
New Delhi: Taking a cue from the BCCI, Hockey India is set to organise a grand felicitation function for its yesteryear stars who will be paid a one-time benefit from the HI coffers for their contribution to the game. The felicitation-cum-Olympic team send-off ceremony will be held on June 24.
Sania’s loss
Edgbaston: Second seeds Sania Mirza and Yaroslava Shvedova made a shock first round exit from the Aegon Classic with a straight-set defeat against Iveta Benesova and Alla Kudryavtseva.

Calcutta: Ranty Martins of Dempo SC was named as the best forward and player-of-the-tournament in I-League 2011-12. He was adjudged after votes from all I-League team captains and coaches. Dempo’s Armando Colaco was named as the best coach.
