A change inCFL format

The Calcutta Football League Premier Division will be played in a new format from the upcoming season. The 19 teams will be divided into two groups — Group A is likely to consist of 10 teams and Group B will comprise nine teams. While champions Kingfisher East Bengal are likely to be placed in Group A, McDowell Mohun Bagan may be placed in the other group.

After the teams of the two groups play each other in league format, five teams from Group A and four from Group B will move to the final stage. The nine teams will then play against each other to decide the winner.

The CFL Premier Division is expected to start in the first week of August.
