Bokaro eviction drive on

Bokaro, June 9: Determined to continue with its drive against illegal encroachers, the town administration department of Bokaro steel plant, with the help of the district administration, today carried out eviction drives at Sector I, Sector II and Sector III of the steel city.

On the third day of the ongoing drive, 10 encroachers, who were forcefully occupying Bokaro steel plant quarters, were evicted and four illegal constructions demolished

Most of the encroachers are former Bokaro steel plant employees who even after retirement were illegally occupying Bokaro steel plant quarters and were even not paying rent. Some had gone to the extent of constructing illegal add-ons and had put the units on rent, which they had been collecting for the last many years, despite protests by Bokaro steel plant authorities and estate court orders.

In a fresh advertisement published by Bokaro steel plant a week ago, 55 persons were named as encroachers against whom eviction orders were passed. Ten encroachments were removed on Thursday, 10 on Friday, while 10 others were removed today. The rest would be removed in the next three days.

Speaking to The Telegraph, Chas SDO Sanjay Singh said the anti-encroachment drive will continue with the help of the district administration till all 55 squatters are removed.
