Juvenile jailbirds escape

Dumka, June 9: Two juvenile inmates of Dumka remand home escaped last night, giving a slip to employees and security guards. An FIR was lodged with Muffassil police station today.

The duo was found missing during the last round of counting, which took place after dinner. Nilesh Mahto, remand home in-charge, said the undertrials took advantage of a power cut at the remand home and managed to escape by scaling the boundary wall around 9pm.

The authorities concerned acted promptly and alerted Muffassil police station. Forces were sent to bus stands and railway station. However, the two could not be traced.

One of the undertrials was detained in an alleged murder case under Section 302 three months ago and the other was lodged here since 2010 in connection with a rape case.
