Calcutta, June 9: A senior BSNL official was arrested tonight for allegedly taking bribe to award a contract.
Sunil Kumar Satyarthi, the chief general manager (telecom stores) of BSNL Calcutta circle, was picked up from a starred hotel in south Calcutta by CBI officers who laid a trap.
A contractor had informed anti-corruption wing officials of the agency that Satyarthi was demanding a bribe of Rs 3.25 lakh to award a contract.
The CBI asked the contractor to tell the BSNL official to meet him at the hotel.
Satyarthi will be produced in court on Sunday, a senior CBI official said.
