Guwahati, June 7: LOG Hindi High School lifted the 8th Dhan Sena Sinha inter-school prize-money cricket tournament trophy, defeating Kendriya Vidyalaya, Borjhar by four wickets at Latasil ground here today.
In the rain-induced truncated match of 12-overs-a-side, KV Borjhar, put in to bat, were restricted to 81 for seven and LOG School boys romped home losing six wickets.
Aijaz Ahmed (44) was the topscorer for KV Borjhar while Abhilash Das made 15 to be the only other batsman to score in double figures.
Ajay Akela of LOG notched up three wickets .
Sahani topscored for LOG with 17 and Akela contributed 15. Raja Babu also scored 12. Iftarul Hussain and Bakul Rabha of KV Borjhar took two wickets each, giving away 10 and 18 runs respectively.
Ajay Akela was adjudged Man of the Match and Man of the Tournament. Tanuj Kalita of Srimanta Shankar Academy and Lal Babu Shah of Blue Birds English School were the Best Batsman and Bowler respectively. Sumit Kamat of Bright Future English School was named Best All-rounder. Ajay Sahani of LOG was named Best Fielder and Subham Das of Happy Child School Best Wicketkeeper. Amarjyoti Das of Gurukul Grammar Sr Secondary School was Most Promising Player and Bright Future English School was named Most Disciplined Team.
Weightlifting
Arunachal Pradesh weightlifters bagged three gold and a silver medal in the Commonwealth Weightlifting Championship at Apia in Samoa. Jimjang Deru won a gold in the 50 kg category on Wednesday, while Soram Tagru, Kojum Taba won gold each both in 62 kg category and Sambu Lapang won silver in 69 kg event on Thursday.
Memorial chess: Top seed Kh Sanjoy Singh shared the lead with two others for four points in the 22nd Kh. Anou Singh Memorial State Level Open Chess Championship on the Kwakeithel Boys High School campus.
