Forensic team visit

Jorhat, June 6: A forensic team from Guwahati visited the site of murder of a domestic help, Ranju Das, at Club Road here today. Das, who worked at the house of Manik Deb, a retired government employee, was found murdered yesterday.

Leader dies

Kohima: Naga National Council (NNC) working president I. Panger Walling died on Tuesday night at Mokokchung after a brief illness. Panger, who was in his 90s, still played an active role in the Naga issue. His funeral service will be held on Thursday at his native Sungratsu village, nearly 35km from Mokokchung.

Rebels held

Dibrugarh: The J&K Light Infantry and police arrested four NSCN (I-M) cadres from a lodge at Paltan Bazar here. An Alto, four pistols, four magazines, 27 live rounds, four mobile phones, seven SIM cards and Rs 39,330 in cash were recovered from them.

Road mishap

Nalbari: Khanin Basumatary, a resident of Mushalpur in Baksa district, died on the spot at Golding Chowk here on Wednesday after a speeding truck (AS14/A2200) hit him.
