United Progressive bag first gold medal

Imphal, June 6: Fencer S. Chingkheinganbi Devi delivered United Progressive Adult Association’s first gold medal in the mini girls’ Epee event of the 8th Governor’s Cup State Level Fencing Championship at Khuman Lampak indoor stadium.

The event saw S. Chingkheinganbi Devi beat Porsia Devi of Miisikhol unit by 15-7 points for the gold while Priyalaxmi Sanasam of PPLYDO and S. Geetanjali Chanu of Pebia Pandit bagged the bronze medals.

In the mini girls’ Sabre event, S. Sophia Devi of United Progressive Adult Association defeated S. Ormila Devi of Miisikhol by a margin of 15-14 points to fetch her team’s second gold.

Th Sana Devi of PPLYDO and K. Panthoi of United Progressive Adult Association settled for the bronze medals.

PPLYDO also collected two gold medals with N. Tennison Meitei beating compatriot Ph Satish by 15-12 points for the gold and silver while G. Bhiviyekar of Miisikhol and N. Surkanta of MMC unit fetching the bronze medals in the mini boys’ Epee event.

In the mini girls’ Foil event, N. Mona Devi of PPLYDO beat N. Roshni of United Progressive Adult Association by 15-6 points for the gold and silver while L. Martina of Miisikhol and L. Bidyalaxmi of United Progressive Adult Association collected the bronze medals.

Miisikhol fencer S. Bindu Devi beat compatriot N. Eden Devi by 15-9 points for gold and silver while W. Roji Devi and Harina Devi of Manipur Police Sports Club got the bronze medals.
