Parikshit in semis

Guwahati, June 6: Top seeds Parikshit Somani and Priyana Kalita of Assam stormed into the under-14 boys’ and girls semi-finals of the AITA Championship Series Tennis Tournament at Chachal tennis complex here today.

In two one-sided quarter-finals, Parikshit got the better of eight seed Vikram Dhananjay (Tamil Nadu) 6-3, 6-0, while Priyana blanked state mate Sanhita Vasava 6-0, 6-0.

Priyana also made it to the under-18 girls’ semi-final after she tamed another state mate Akanshaa Das 6-2, 6-0 in the quarter-final.

In the other quarter-final of the boys’ under-14 category, second seed Mingki Talom of Arunachal Pradesh eased past unseeded Sidharth Choudhury of Assam 6-1, 6-3, fourth seed Sidharth Basnet of Sikkim came back from a set down to defeat Assam’s Aman Deo 4-6, 6-3, 6-0 while L.R. Balaji fought back to get the better of Ankeet Kashyap 3-6, 6-2, 6-2.

In two other girls’ under-14 quarter-finals, Tamil Nadu’s Ramya N. made light work of Assam’s Rudraxee Bharali 6-0, 6-0 while Delhi girl Saranya Khanna defeated fourth seed Nairuti Vyas 6-2, 7-5.

In the under-18 boys’ quarters, fourth seed Abhinanshu Borthakur (Assam) defeated his brother Arunanshu 6-4, 6-2, Kerala’s Allen Johnson Kundan defeated Siddharth S. Reddy 6-3, 6-1, top seed Manish Kumar of Delhi defeated Amlanjyoti Baruah of Assam 6-3, 6-0 while Deepak Viswakarma got the better of Neeraj Choudhury 6-3, 6-1.

In the under-18 girls’ quarters, Arushi Bhasin outplayed Eshita Pande 6-0, 6-1, Ramya N. tamed Assam’s Protiksha Sharma 6-3, 6-2 while Sumera Kamil got the better of Silpi Swarupa Das 6-1, 6-0.

In the boys’ under-14 doubles quarter-finals, the duo of Ranak and Ankeet defeated Jugal and Aneesh 6-0, 6-4, Siddharth and Vitsizolie beat Ronit and Bibhan 6-2, 6-0, Uddith and Kritartha defeated Aman and Chengish 6-3, 6-2 while Parikshit and Siddhart got the better of Neeraj and Arnab 6-2, 6-3. In two under-18 boys’ doubles quarters, the duo of Manish and Aditya defeated Jagdeep and Rahul 6-4, 6-0 while Deepak and Siddharth defeated Iciraibe and Mhiesilhouto 6-0, 6-3.
