Mumbai, June 6: President Pratibha Patil today cancelled a scheduled visit to a dairy in Baramati, hours after it was brought to her notice that the enterprise had been promoted by a telecom scam accused now out on bail.
Patil, scheduled to tour Pune and Baramati between June 8 and June 11, was to have visited Schreiber Dynamix Dairy promoted by Vinod Goenka.
This afternoon, Maharashtra BJP spokesperson Madhav Bhandari demanded that the President rethink her visit considering the 2G association. Within hours, the President’s office had struck the dairy off her itinerary. “The Baramati visit was scheduled after an invitation from (Union minister) Sharad Pawar to see Baramati’s development. However, due to paucity of time, it will not be possible for her to spare time for a visit to Dynamix Dairy,” Rashtrapati Bhavan spokesperson Archana Datta told The Telegraph.
