Teachers’ training
Kokrajhar, June 5: Udalguri district elementary education department will impart induction training to TET-passed teachers of the district from June 6 to 10. The Tezpur District Bodo Sahitya Sabha on Tuesday urged education minister Himanta Biswa Sarma to appoint only candidates with Bodo-medium background to Bodo lower primary schools.
Rumi case
Silchar: Two cases of bigamy and theft were registered against two-time MLA Rumi Nath, 33, in the court of chief judicial magistrate A.K. Barua here on Monday, by her estranged husband Rakesh Kumar Singh. He alleged that Nath had married Jackie Jakir, 29, without gettinga divorce and also stolen a gold chain and two rings.
Thief killed
Nalbari: Police shot dead a member of a suspected gang of car thieves, after the criminals killed the driver of a car in Barpeta district on Tuesday. The police later arrested other gang members.
Recovered
Nalbari: Rangia police recovered the body of Jeherul Haque, 30, from a pond at Rangia Tiniali on Tuesday evening.
Craft gallery
Guwahati: NEDFi on Tuesday opened a water hyacinth craft gallery at Agia in Goalpara. Seven such galleries will be also opened in small towns of the Northeast this month.
