Plea from eco brigade
Members of the green platform Sabuj Mancha urged chief minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday to intervene in green matters. They claimed all was not well with the state environment department, especially the pollution control board.
nvironmentalist Naba Datta said the board had failed in containing critical pollution sectors in the state. Other members criticised rampant filling up of water bodies, mindless cutting of trees and installation of trident lights.
Sleaze racket: Police arrested four persons, two of them women, from different parts of the city on Monday on charges of immoral trafficking. Two minor girls, including a Bangladeshi, were rescued during the raids on the apartments of the accused at Regent Park, Behala and Jadavpur.
