Sanil makes final

Sanil Jagtiani made the final of the boys’ singles under-14 category, beating Parikshit Somani of Assam 6-0, 6-2 in the DKS-AITA Championship series on Thursday. Jagtiani will take on Nitin Kumar Sinha, who defeated top seed Ishaque Eqbal 6-2, 6-0, in the summit clash. Jagtiani also made it to the final of the boys’ under-18 category after beating Adwithya Patnaik 6-2, 6-1. He will face Deepak Vishwakarma in the final.

IFA letter

The IFA has written to Kingfisher East Bengal and Tolgay Ozebe asking them to provide more documents in respect to the club’s claim that the player should play for them in the upcoming season. Both East Bengal and Tolgay need to submit the documents by June 10 after which the Players’ Status Committee is expected to take a decision.

United SC gain

After roping in Subrata Paul, Prayag United SC have now finalised a deal with former India goalkeeper Sangram Mukherjee.

Chaitali gold

Chaitali Kaput won the lone gold for Bengal in the sub-junior Women National Boxing championship, which concluded at Chetla Park on Thursday. Chaitali won the gold in the 36-38 kg category. Apart from the gold, Bengal won two silver and two bronze medals.

Sumit victory

Sumit Kumar Das defeated Soham Bhattacharya 11-6, 11-6, 13-11, 5-11, 11-9 to emerge as the champion in the men’s singles category of the All Bengal 49th Hooghly District Table Tennis Championship on Thursday. In the women’s singles category, Survi Patwari beat Suparna Bhattacharya 11-9, 12-10, 11-2, 11-8 in the final. Survi also won the girls’ and sub-junior girls’ titles.

Nandi stars

Arnab Nandi took four wickets to help East Bengal thrash Kalighat by 103 runs in the CAB First division playoff match at the Jadavpur University Salt Lake campus ground on Thursday.

Swimming

Central Swimming Club defeated Paddapukur YMA 13-7 in a match of the Dr Sarkar Allen Water Polo Tournament at the Calcutta YMCA Swimming section on Thursday. In another match, Indian Lifer Saving Society lost to Bowbazar Bayam Samity 8-9.
