Award for Assam
Guwahati, May 31: Assam will get a cash prize of Rs 2 lakh for its excellent performance in anti-human trafficking strategies. Union home minister P. Chidambaram will give away the prize to Assam chief secretary N.K. Das on June 6.
Tablets safe
Guwahati: Health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday said there was nothing wrong with the folic acid tablets consumed by students in Darrang and Sonitpur districts. Students in the districts fell ill after consumption of the tablets on May 23. The lab tests of the samples of the tablets found nothing wrong with them, he said.
Truck missing
Tezpur: A Jorhat-bound truck carrying newsprint was forcefully taken away on Thursday from Keherukhonda in Sonitpur district. The driver, who was let off, reported to the police. However, the truck is yet to be traced.
Arrested
Dhubri: Safiqul Islam, 35, wanted in many women trafficking cases, was arrested from Silapani village of Goalpara district by a police team led by officer-in-charge of Lakhipur police station Kamla Chandra Sil on Wednesday.
